What is FaZIT?

Immigration is not a temporary phenomenon, even for Brandenburg! After the political Change and the Reunification, human beings with birth places bearing names like Karaganda, Omsk or Yaounde for instance, found their way to us. In spite of the rather small rate of immigrants compared to the federal level, they belong to localities from Wittenberge to Forst.

In view of the many and very serious problems of structure change which have touched large parts of the Land of Brandenburg, many haven’t perceived by far that designing the cohabitation of people from different origins, cultures and religions is one of the main future tasks of our Land. Openness and internationalisation are prerequisites for growth, life quality and innovation as well. Immigrants will accept Brandenburg as their new homeland and stay there only if they come across open doors and hearts.

That’s why the regional government already outlined the goals to achieve and the basic instruments in May 2002. The duties making up the core of activities of the Service for Immigration, Integration and Tolerance in Brandenburg (FaZIT) result from this global concept. With consultations and offers of further training, FaZIT support the efforts of various partners for an effective integration of immigrants in the respective communities. Through their active cooperation in the networks, FaZIT contribute to the integration of all local actors. Finally, FaZIT also endeavour to make the opportunities of immigration and multiculturalism visible and, by this way, contribute to civil awareness of life.

FaZIT ’s offers are addressed to a multitude of partners in whole Brandenburg. The wide professional competence, the intercultural composition of the team and the existing work contacts, mainly with municipalities, networks and local actors, allow us to work on a huge spectrum of themes – strengthening self-help potentials, integration of immigrants into labour, bettering the access to medical care, especially the situation of traumatized refugees.

FaZIT is a project of the non-profit association „Gesellschaft für Inklusion und Soziale Arbeit e.V.“ and is exclusively financed through grants of public institutions and private foundations.
